Trigg murder suspect cuts off ankle monitor, on the run

With his trial having already begun in Trigg Circuit Court, murder suspect James William Gentry allegedly cut his ankle monitor off Tuesday morning and is on the run.

Gentry is a 46-year-old white male who stands about six feet tall and weighs approximately 168 lbs.

Hopkinsville police say the ankle monitor showed his last known location as the corner of Cox Mill and Wooldridge Road.

Gentry is charged with murder, first-degree robbery and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He allegedly admitted to Kentucky State Police that he was present when Keith Joey Hayes was shot multiple times on November 27, 2018. He also reportedly admitted to transporting Hayes to the location on Buffalo Road in Trigg County where he was killed and later located.

Anyone knowing Gentry’s whereabouts should call HPD at 270-890-1300.
