Masks to be encouraged, but not mandated in Christian County schools

Students, faculty and staff in Christian County Public Schools won’t be required to wear a mask in school buildings and buses when the new year begins next month.

Superintendent Chris Bentzel says the wearing of masks at school will be encouraged but not mandated for students and staff.

He says the district will continue to encourage anyone eligible to get vaccinated against the virus and the school system will be flexible to change as the pandemic progresses.

Social distancing will be utilized when possible, PPE will be available when needed, the virtual learning academy will remain an option for students in grades 3 through 12, and vaccine clinics will continue to be offered through a partnership with WildHealth.
