Two Russellville residents were arrested Friday for allegedly being in possession of a stolen vehicle and catalytic converter.
Logan County sheriff’s deputies saw a Nissan Sentra on Hopkinsville Road near the US 68 Bypass and a computer check revealed it had been stolen out of Henry County, Tennessee.
A traffic stop was conducted at the Marathon gas station and it was determined 27-year-old Taylor Hanks of Russellville was driving with a DUI suspended license. A rear window was broken on the vehicle and the steering column was altered, according to a news release, which says a cut off catalytic converter was located in the rear seat.
Hanks and his passenger, 25-year-old Presley Yates of Russellville, reportedly claimed the vehicle had been gifted to them by a friend.
Both suspects were arrested for felony receiving stolen property (over $10,000) and felony auto theft.
Hanks was also charged with his third offense of driving on a DUI suspended license.
