Man facing multiple charges following high speed pursuit in Todd Co.

A man was arrested on multiple charges following a pursuit in Todd County Friday afternoon.

According to a police report from the Elkton Police Department, Officer Jakop Smith responded to reports of a reckless driver in the area of US 68 heading westbound from the direction of Logan County, where the responding officer saw a vehicle matching that description weaving over the center line. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver of the vehicle allegedly fled.

The pursuit continued through several parking lots and streets before heading towards Trenton down Davis Mill Road, reaching speeds upwards of 100 miles per hour. It reportedly left the roadway several times, including into a bean field, before coming to a stop in a field off of US 41 where the driver then attempted to flee on foot.

Officer Smith was able to deploy his taser and bring the suspect, identified as 35-year old Chad Duncan of Farmington, Kentucky, into custody without further incident.  Duncan is charged with two counts of first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, fourth-offense DUI, criminal mischief, reckless driving, speeding and other traffic violations.

The Todd County Sheriff’s Office, Guthrie Police Department, Kentucky State Police and Kentucky Probation and Parole assisted in the incident.
