New cases of COVID-19 are surging in Christian County and the health department has reported another COVID death.
Christian County’s 102nd coronavirus fatality is a 65-year-old African-American woman.
There were 65 new confirmed cases in the last week—compared to 37 the previous week, 17 before that and only seven cases in the week of July 1.
The Christian County Health Department is urging anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated to get a shot, with Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccinations available at the health department every Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There are now 99 active cases in Christian County—10 in individuals zero to 21-years-old, 74 between the ages of 21 and 59 and 15 between the ages of 60 and 84.
The Christian County Health Department has administered 27,607 total vaccines, with the vast majority of those Moderna doses.
