Unemployment was up in all nine Pennyrile counties last month

Unemployment was up from May to June in all nine Pennyrile counties.

Christian County’s jobless rate was 6.6 percent, up from 4.8 percent in May and down from 6.8 percent one year ago. That equated to 1,635 people who were looking for work and unable to find it.

Todd County had Kentucky’s seventh-lowest unemployment rate at 4.6 percent, up from 3.2 percent in May and up from 3.8 percent in June of 2020.

The June jobless rate in Trigg County was 5.9 percent, up from 4.3 percent in May and up from 5.6 percent one year ago.

Muhlenberg County had the region’s highest June unemployment at 7.8 percent.

The state average was 5.5 percent and the national number was 6.1.
