Woman flown to Nashville hospital after head-on collision on US 79 in Todd County

A woman was flown to a Nashville hospital following a head-on collision Tuesday morning on US 79 in Todd County.

Todd County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patrick Turner says 61-year old Phyllis Mink of Indian Mound, Tennessee was northbound about a mile and a half south of the Logan County Line at approximately 8:20 a.m. when she crossed the center line for unknown reasons and struck the front driver’s side corner of a southbound dump truck operated by 23-year old Tyler Carnell of Falls of Rough.

Mink’s car spun and traveled about 240 feet backwards before going down a ditch and into a deep ravine.

She was extricated by the Todd County Rescue Squad and flown by Air Evac to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. Carnell did not report any injuries.

The Allensville and Guthrie volunteer fire departments and Guthrie Police Department also assisted at the scene.
