Two local students have been awarded scholarships from the Christian County FFA Alumni and Supports Burley Tobacco Growers Cooperative Association.
According to a news release, the scholarship was established earlier this year with the goal of recognizing youth from both local high schools who had ties to tobacco production and planned to further their education in agriculture or an agriculture related trade field.
The students selected, who will receive $1,000 each, are Lucas Gamble, a 2021 graduate of Christian County High School and Nathan Morris, a 2021 graduate of Hopkinsville High School. Both students intend to attend Murray State University in the fall, with Gamble to major in Agribusiness Economics and Morris to major in Agriscience Technology.
Lucas is also the recipient of an additional $1,000 Christian County FFA Alumni and Supporters Scholarship.
