Plea deals were reached Monday morning in Christian Circuit Court for the two men charged in connection with shooting a gun into a Hopkinsville home in May of 2019.
Two-year sentences were probated for 21-year-old Payton Leneave of Hopkinsville and 21-year-old Trey Kern of Crofton.
Kern pleaded guilty to first-degree wanton endangerment and Leneave to complicity to first-degree wanton endangerment.
The incident happened on May 20, 2019, when Leneave drove Kern to a Hopkinsville location and Kern fired a gun into the home of a woman who was not injured in the incident.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jarod Smith noted Kern has served significant jail time and was still incarcerated Monday morning and Kern told Judge John Atkins he intends to enter the workforce as soon as possible after getting out.
Final sentencing was scheduled for September 8 and part of the plea deals require both men avoid making any contact with the victim.
