Murray State picked to win OVC Football title, Austin Peay ties for second

Murray State is the pick of the Ohio Valley Conference coaches and media relations personnel to win the league in the 2021 season. Austin Peay is picked in a second place tie with Southeast Missouri, followed by UT Martin in fourth, Tennessee State fifth, Tennessee Tech sixth and Eastern Illinois seventh.

Austin Peay quarterback Draylen Ellis was selected as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. He is joined on the All OVC First Team by Murray State quarterback Preston Rice. Other Racers on the All OVC First Team are wide receivers LaMartez Brooks and Jacob Bell along with offensive lineman Levi Nesler and Jacob Vance.
Other Governor players on the All OVC First team are offensive linemen Bucky Williams, Colby McKee and Seth Johnson.

Austin Peay nickelback Kordell Jackson was named the OVC’s Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. He is joined on the All OVC First Team by fellow Governor Jack McDonald at inside linebacker. Murray State is represented by defensive end Ethan Edmondson, outside linebacker Scotty Humpich, inside linebacker Eric Samula and cornerback Marcis Floyd.

Murray State’s Malik Honeycutt was named All OVC First Team punt returner.
