Man apologizes for courtroom outburst, released from contempt charge

A Tennessee man who allegedly led Christian County deputies on a vehicle pursuit and then was held in contempt following an outburst during his arraignment is out of jail after he apologized in District Court Friday morning.

A preliminary hearing on the fleeing or evading police charge was waived by attorneys for 49-year old Jeffery Albea of Nashville, who apologized to Judge Foster Cotthoff for using foul language toward him during arraignment hearing last Thursday.

Judge Cotthoff sentenced him to the time already served for the contempt charge and sent the felony charge to the grand jury for consideration.

His reckless driving and driving on a revoked license charges will be dealt with during a traffic court hearing in September.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop Albea on the Pennryile Parkway on July 8 and he allegedly continued for eight miles until spike strips were used to disable his automobile.
