Christian County School System Superintendent Chris Bentzel believes consolidating the two high schools would allow a positive transformation of the education model for high school students in the district.
Appearing Thursday morning on WHOP, Bentzel said the “academy model” that would be implemented in a proposed mega-school would better serve students and better prepare them for life after graduation.
He says building one high school would pave the way for the district to begin looking at other needs in its facilities plan.
The first of three public forums where supporters and detractors can ask questions is set for 6 p.m., July 26 at Christian County Middle School and it will be moderated by Circuit Judge Andrew Self.
Forums are also set for August 2 at Crofton Elementary School and August 12 at South Christian Elementary, which each to begin at 6 p.m. Bentzel says additional forums will be scheduled, if needed.
