A pickup stolen in Elkton was recovered following a traffic stop Tuesday night in Hopkinsville and the occupants were arrested on multiple charges.
Hopkinsville police stopped 31-year old Jamie Whitworth of Princeton on East Ninth at Gant Street for her passengers not wearing seat belts and an arrest citation says a computer check showed the 1994 Chevy pickup she was driving had been reported stolen to the Elkton Police Department.
Whitworth was taken into custody and police say they found a bag containing 43 grams of methamphetamine that was in a backpack at Whitworth’s feet.
The backpack also contained pills, scales, syringes and other drug paraphernalia.
Marijuana was reportedly found under the front seat.
What’s described as a “rolled up pouch” was found hidden under a rear seat and it contained more syringes.
Whitworth and a passenger, 30-year old Amber Gillespie of Kuttawa, were each arrested for trafficking in methamphetamine, tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Whitworth was additionally charged with felony receiving stolen property, driving without insurance or tags and illegal possession of a legend drug.
