Ribbon officially cut for Christian County Ag. Expo Center

Christian County made the new Ag. Expo Center on Pembroke Road official Tuesday morning with a ribbon cutting and open house event.

The center, which supports a large dirt-floor arena, office and event spaces and more, has been open to events for some time but the ribbon was finally cut Tuesday when people were once again able to gather.  Magistrate Jerry Gilliam says this facility was a long time in the making and was made possible through extensive partnerships that allowed them to stay on budget while keeping what they wanted.

Farm Credit Mid-America Regional Vice President Brandon Garnett says they stuck with their priorities through the whole process—creating a space to benefit the community and local youth.

University of Kentucky Associate Dean of Agriculture Extension Laura Stevenson says she admired the drive of the community to achieve this facility, saying it will benefit the area for years to come.

The 45,000 square foot, $1.85 million building is able to host horse and cattle shows, along with private, commercial or tourism related activities that need an indoor space.  People were able to take tours of the facility Tuesday, while watching examples of what horse and cattle events will be possible thanks to the center.
