Rep. Dossett believes ending pandemic unemployment assistance would return more people to workforce

The Kentucky General Assembly Interim Appropriations and Revenue Committee met Wednesday and heard about issues the state is having with getting job applicants to fill open positions.

Ninth District State Representative Myron Dossett co-chairs the committee and says when there are applicants, they often do not show up for an interview.

Dossett says he’s also hearing from private businesses who believe it’s time for Kentucky to join surrounding states in ending pandemic unemployment assistance payments.

The committee also heard from the Kentucky Public Pensions Authority with an update on House Bill 8, which changed the funding method for the Kentucky Employee Retirement System.  Under the terms of the bill, nonhazardous employers will base their contribution rate on their actual pension liability, rather than a percentage of payroll.
