Gov celebrates Porter Road Meat Company expansion in Princeton, announces National Guard deployment to southern border

A ribbon-cutting was scheduled for Thursday afternoon at Porter Road Meat Company in Princeton, which is creating 83 new full-time jobs.

Governor Andy Beshear says Porter Road invested $1.5 million to relocate to two buildings encompassing 35,000 square feet of space on Masonic Drive in Princeton to increase capacity.

The move gives Porter a larger cutting room and expanded packaging and shipping capabilities than it had in its previous facility.

The governor also announced during his weekly update that over 200 members of the Kentucky National Guard are deploying to the southern border later this year.

Governor Beshear says approximately 15,000 more Kentuckians have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the last week.

He says work is moving ahead with a permanent memorial for the over 7,000 Kentuckians who have died from the coronavirus since the pandemic began and a panel is being installed to decide a design for the project.
