Hopkinsville man served with warrant for sexual abuse, sodomy charges

An arrest warrant for sexual abuse of a child was served Friday against a Hopkinsville man.

It alleges that in July of 2019, 22-year old Austin Pendleton of Hopkinsville got in a bathtub with a young girl who was staying at her family member’s home.

He allegedly forced the girl to make contact with his genitals—though he reportedly told Hopkinsville police that he was taking a shower with the girl in the tub and that any contact wasn’t on purpose.

Pendleton is charged with first-degree sexual abuse against a victim under the age of 12 and first-degree sodomy against a victim under the age of 12.

Hopkinsville police investigated and the warrant was served by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office.

He was lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $110,000 bond.
