Gov. Beshear announces first ‘Shot at A Million’ winners

The first round of winners of the Kentucky “Shot at A Million” vaccination program were announced Friday, including a student from Princeton for the scholarship portion.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear made the announcement, along with celebrating that approximately 2.2 million people have been vaccinated, and that number continues to grow each day.

He says there were approximately 600,000 entries for this round of drawings, and people have more time to enter in to win on July 29 and August 26.

The winner of the first $1 million is Patricia Short of Lexington—along with that announcement, several Kentucky youth were selected to receive fully funded scholarships through the initiative.  Those students were Adison Sullenger of Princeton, Jalen Crudup of Elizabethtown, Crystal Frost of Crestwood, Tyler Henson of Mt. Sterling and Alex VonderHaar of Louisville.

Short says it still feels unreal to her, but she assures it’s very much real and she urged everyone to get vaccinated, not just for the chance to win, but help keep yourself and others safe.

People can still enter to win by going online to shot-at-a-million dot ky dot gov—if you entered you name already, it will carry over into the next round of drawings.
