The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville welcomed its new officers Thursday morning with a meet and greet, and Lieutenants Roger and Lindsey Galabeas are ready to hit the ground running.
They say the community has truly welcomed them with open arms and they’ve already met a lot of people who are intent to help those in need in any way they can and they’re eager to really make Hopkinsville their new home.
They’re already looking into ways they can improve their local shelter and other initiatives, and are seeking out ways to partner with others in the community.
One of the main issues they’ve already heard from their clients about is a need for housing, which they call a nationwide problem, so they’re thinking of ways to increase housing opportunities.
The Galabeas come to Hopkinsville from Danville, Kentucky and are stepping into the roles recently vacated by Jose and Candi Marquez, who relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. They’ve only been in Hopkinsville for approximately a week, and say they’ve already been impressed by both the city and the people who live in it.
