CASA swears in four new advocates to benefit children in need

Christian County now has four newly appointed Court Appointed Special Advocates intent on helping children in need involved in the court system, following a swearing in ceremony Wednesday.

Reverend Vernon Millner, Martha Argotte, Amy Wilcher and Tim Moss were sworn in by Family Court Judge Jason Fleming, and they will soon begin working with children involved in dependency, abuse or neglect cases by being with them through the entire process and advocating for what each child needs to be happy and healthy.

Judge Fleming thanked them for their willingness to serve, saying they will have a bigger impact on the lives of children than they realize.

Judge Fleming says the program depends on volunteers to function and to make sure children are getting the support and representation they need.

An advocate is appointed by a judge to offer support to a child that is involved in the court system until they find a permanent home. CASA, now lead by Executive Director Regina Kelly, is always seeking more for more volunteer advocates and anyone interested can begin the application process by calling 270-887-4024.
