Satoshi Kodaira has a share of the lead at the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut, after an exceptional opening round on Thursday. Kodaira shot a seven-under 63, highlighted by an eagle two on the par-four second hole at TPC River Highlands. He was matched only by Kramer Hickok, who tallied eight birdies and a bogey in the opening round. Talor Gooch is in third, one stroke back at six-under heading into today’s second round. Nashville’s Brandt Snedeker is tied for 25th at two under while Campbellsville native JB Holmes is at even par.
At the PGA Tour Champions Bridgestone Senior Players Championship at Firestone Country Club in Akron, ON, Steve Stricker opened play Thursday with a seven under 63, leading Ken Duke and Paul Broadhurst by four shots. Franklin’s Kenny Perry is tied for 16th at one over 71 while Paducah native Russ Cochran is at seven over 77, good for a 74th place tie.
