Unemployment was up from April to May in all nine Pennyrile counties.
Christian County’s jobless rate was 4.7 percent, up from 4.4 percent in April and down from 13.5 percent in May of 2020 when pandemic restrictions were in place. It equated to 1,160 people who were looking for work and unable to find it.
Todd County had the tenth-lowest jobless rate in Kentucky at 3.2 percent, up from 3 percent in April and down from 7.3 percent in May of 2020.
The unemployment rate in Trigg County was 4.3 percent, up only one tenth of a point from the previous month and down from 10.7 percent a year ago.
The state’s unemployment rate was 3.9 percent and the national number was 5.5 percent.
