Medical furlough denied for Greenville Road murder suspect

A medical furlough was denied Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court for the woman accused in the 2019 shooting death of Amareya’ Freeman.

Attorney Michael Thompson represents Anshanique Leavell and they outlined their concerns to Circuit Judge John Atkins about health issues she’s been having and requested that she be allowed a furlough to have them addressed.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling protested any furlough, saying the concerns can be addressed while in custody.

Judge Atkins agreed with Boling, urging Thompson to work with the jail for a better solution.

Leavell is accused of shooting Freeman in the chest at an apartment on Greenville Road on June 6 of 2019 and is charged with murder, receiving stolen property and complicity to tampering with physical evidence.
