There will be a break from the heat on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a chance of rain returns for the weekend.
That’s according to Rick Shanklin with the National Weather Service in Paducah, who says after the rain clears from Monday, you can expect cooler temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday, with rain in the forecast for the weekend.
He says the end of June heading into July looks fairly average temperatures, if even a little below average, with the rain fall outlook looking normal as well.
This week is Lightning Awareness Week, with Shanklin urging people that when thunder roars, go indoors—he says the time lightning is at its most dangerous is actually when the main body of a storm has passed.
The drought outlook for the area remains in good shape, with the majority of river levels remaining in good condition.
