Details have been released on a crash Friday afternoon on US 79 in Todd County that killed two people and injured three others.
Kentucky State Police investigated and say 72-year old Mark Stoltzfus of Franklin had been southbound on 79 when he struck the rear of a car driven by a person identified only as Dora Vega, who was stopped to make a left turn onto KY 848.
His pickup then went into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 51-year old Susan Merrill of Clarksville.
Merrill and a backseat passenger, 13-year old Gavin Merrill of Ocala, Florida, were pronounced dead at the scene by Todd County Coroner Timothy Wells.
Twenty-four-year-old Matthew Merrill of Clarksville was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashviille.
Vega and 63-year old David Merrill of Clarksville were taken by EMS to Tennova Health Hospital in Clarksville.
The Todd County Sheriff’s Office, Guthrie Police Department, local chaplain’s service, Todd County Rescue, Guthrie Fire Department, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Todd County Emergency Management all assisted at the scene.
