Golf’s third major of the season begins todsy at the South Course at Torrey Pines near San Diego. The U.S. Open is a notoriously tough tournament, highlighted by tough courses and high scores. Hideki Mastsuyama, who won the Masters, and Phil Mickelson, who won the PGA Championship, have won the first two majors of the season.
Speaking of Mickelson, he will be looking to claim the first U.S. Open championship of his illustrious career, and the San Diego native may have no better chance to do it than this week at his home course. Louisville area native Justin Thomas is also in the field.
