The Sporting News.com reports New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has given manager Aaron Boone a vote of confidence, despite the Yankees 34-32 record. Cashman made the comment before the Pinstripers 6-5 win over Toronto last night.

St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Shildt tells The Sporting News he expects a regression in some pitchers after the sticky substance background. One of his own pitchers-Adam Wainwright-admitted in a Sports Illustrated report Tuesday he tried a sticky substance in 2019 but did not like it.
MLB ordered a crackdown on sticky substance use by pitchers on Tuesday.

NBA

A pair of coaches have been fired today. The New Orleans Pelicans announced the termination of Stan Van Gundy after one season in the Big Easy. ESPN reports during exit interviews on May 17, the day after the regular season ended, Van Gundy told reporters it was a tough year because of how the season played out amid COVID-19 protocols around the league. New Orleans finished a disappointing 31-41 this past season and fell short of making the play-in tournament in the Western Conference.

The Washington Wizards announced today they will move on from coach Scott Brooks after the two sides could not come to terms on a contract extension. Brooks had just led the Wizards to the playoffs for the first time in three seasons. His contract expired after Washington’s first-round loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.
