Children injured when tree falls on truck near Crofton, a few homes also damaged in storm

Two children were injured when a tree fell on a pickup Saturday night during a thunderstorm on Madisonville Road near Crofton and a few homes in the area were damaged by falling trees and debris.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Andy Sanderson says the pickup had been headed north near Covered Wagon Road when the tree was blown down and fell on the vehicle.

The National Weather Service in Paducah says approximately 20 trees were blown down or uprooted in the Crofton area during the rough weather between 8:30 and 9 o’clock and Deputy Sanderson says there were some homes that sustained damage.

Wind gusts of at least 50 mph and dime-sized hail were also confirmed to the National Weather Service.

No severe thunderstorm warnings or watches were ever issued for Christian County during the storms.
