Noting the pandemic isn’t over, Governor Andy Beshear said Friday that Kentucky is no longer in crisis as he rescinded almost all COVID mitigation mandates.
After 250 live COVID updates since March of last year, Governor Beshear held his final one and said the worst part of the pandemic is behind us.
The only mandates remaining are a requirement to wear a mask in high risk areas such as long-term care facilities.
Governor Beshear announced 237 new cases, nine more deaths and a positivity rate that fell to 2.05 percent Friday.
He says the state is developing a memorial to remember all Kentuckians who have or will die from the virus and to also honor healthcare workers and others who have sacrificed to save lives.
Just over 2.1 million Kentuckians have received at least their first dose of vaccine and about 370,000 have signed up for the chance to win $1 million by going to the state vaccine lottery website.
