Luke Williams hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth as Philadelphia defeated Atlanta 2-1-snapping the Braves three game win streak. The series wraps up this afternoon in Philadelphia.

Joc Pederson and Sergio Alcántara each homered as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Padres 3-1 in San Diego. The Cubs host the St. Louis Cardinals tomorrow.

Interleague

The St. Louis Cardinals ended a six-game skid with an 8-2 win over the Cleveland Indians. Tyler O’Neill homered twice and plated three runs. Adam Wainwright tossed seven innings of two-run ball for the win. The Redbirds are off today.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame is pushing back its induction ceremony a few weeks to allow for fans. The Class of 2020 ceremony was originally scheduled for July 25th will now be hosted Wednesday, September 8th, in Cooperstown. The class includes Yankee great Derek Jeter, former National League M-V-P Larry Walker, Ted Simmons and Marvin Miller. There were no inductees for the Class of 2021. The Class of 2020 wasn’t inducted last year because of the pandemic.
