CCHD talks vaccine opportunities, local COVID numbers

The Christian County Health Department continues to keep track of COVID-19 in the community and they’re urging people to take advantage of the many vaccine opportunities locally.

Amanda Sweeney Brunt appeared on WHOP Tuesday and says they’ll be partnering with multiple agencies to bring vaccines to the community for those who want one, with all information available on their Facebook page—shots are also available by appointment at the health department each Thursday.

She says the department has administered 26,734 COVID vaccines, but undoubtedly even more have been given out by local pharmacies and physicians.

Brunt says they believe the vaccination rate presented by the state for Christian County is skewed—those numbers don’t include federal employees and others associated with Fort Campbell.

In last Thursday’s update there were only 23 active COVID-19 cases in the county, which Brunt says is great progress and they’re hopeful to see that decrease even further as more and more people get vaccinated.
