The Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for a full summer of events, starting with the third annual Squealin’ on the Square Friday.
This year’s Squealin’ on the Square will feature up to 10 barbecue teams battling for cash prizes and trophies in each of the food categories, which range from barbeque, chicken, ribs and more. Superintendent Tab Brockman says the event will roll into the first Sounds at Six event of the summer, and he invites everyone to attend and have a great time.
Winning teams will be determined based on presentation, taste and tenderness of entries and winners receive $250 and the coveted trophy in each meat division. The public will be able to sample to food from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Tie Breaker Family Aquatic Center is set to open for the first time in over a year on June 18 and Brockman says the last of the renovations should wrap up before then.
Country music legend Travis Tritt is set to headline this year’s Summer Salute in August and Brockman says they were happy to bring the opportunity to hear him to the community.
More information will be released about other events and activities taking place during the Summer Salute as the event draws closer.
