Local senior centers plan to reopen to public July 1

Plans are in place to reopen the senior centers in the Pennyrile region—including in Christian, Todd and Trigg counties—on July 1.

Jill Collins is the director of the Pennyrile Agency on Aging and says she met with leaders of the nine senior centers Wednesday morning and they intend to reopen to the public July 1.

She says planning will have to be accomplished between now and then on how best to reopen the centers safely and efficiently.

Governor Andy Beshear announced Tuesday that senior centers across Kentucky can reopen to the public at full capacity as soon as June 11.

Local centers have continued providing meals to any senior who needs them by delivery or pickup since the pandemic began.
