Man arrested for strangulation, assault

An investigation by Hopkinsville police Sunday night on Bryan Street ended with the arrest of a man on assault and strangulation charges.

An incident report alleges that 44-year old Alprestonia Butler of Hopkinsville struck his 43-year old girlfriend on the head and strangled her at about 9 p.m. Sunday at a location in the 1700 block of Bryan Street.

The assault left marks on the victim’s head, according to the report.

Butler was arrested and charged with first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
