Heavy rain will be likely with a storm system moving across the region this week and an isolated strong storm can’t be ruled out.
Derrick Snyder with the National Weather Service in Paducah said during the weekly conference call Tuesday that the Pennyrile region is likely to see the most rain in Western Kentucky—possibly two to three inches by the time it ends Thursday.
Motorists will want to use extra caution during the heavy rain and be on the lookout for standing water in all of the usual places.
There’s a marginal risk for severe weather Wednesday and Wednesday night, but a major severe outbreak isn’t expected.
Next week is looking to be warmer and slightly wetter than normal.
Snyder noted that many communities saw a record-low high temperature on Saturday as an unusually strong cold front plunged across the area. It was the coolest May 29 since 1984 in most locations.
