CCPS Summer Learning Institute, feeding program begin next week

The Christian County Public School System is hopeful next year will be a return to normality, but summer programs begin next week.

The Summer Learning Institute kicks off Monday, with many students taking advantage of the program that Superintendent Chris Bentzel calls not your typical summer school. He says those well-known COVID-19 health guidelines will be in place during the institute.

Next school year has the potential to look very different, as the mask mandate and other restrictions lift across the state—Bentzel says they’re looking forward to having a normal school year where students no longer have to worry with restrictions or challenges related to the pandemic.

Along with the Summer Learning Institute, the traditional Summer Feeding program is set to begin Monday as well, with Superintendent Bentzel saying more information on that is set to be released this week.

Bentzel says his administration has worked hard on developing a strategic learning plan for the next five years, and they will present that to the School Board this coming Thursday for approval.
