A Change of Responsibility ceremony was held Thursday afternoon on Fort Campbell, as Command Sergeant Major Veronica Knapp becomes the senior enlisted advisor of the 101st Airborne Division
She takes over for Command Sergeant Major Bryan Barker, who passed her the colors during the ceremony and wished her good luck, saying he knows he’s leaving everything in good hands. He says it has been the honor of his life to serve with the leadership and soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division Air Assault and they stand ready to answer the call to action, whenever it may come.
Major General JP McGee says he interviewed many excellent candidates, and he believes Knapp is the best choice for the job.
Command Sergeant Major Knapp says she’s honored to help lead the division into the future and she’s eager to get to know the soldiers, leadership and the community as whole.
The ceremony comes with a new milestone, as Knapp is the first woman to serve as the command sergeant major for an Army division.
