Cool down expected for Memorial Day Weekend

It’s going to be warm and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms for much of this week, but temperatures could cool some over the Memorial Day weekend.

During the weekly conference call, Rick Shanklin with the National Weather Service in Paducah said there could be a strong storm or two somewhere in the region late in the week, but isn’t expecting a major severe weather outbreak.

The Memorial Day weekend will be cooler and while there could be a rain shower here or there, it won’t be a washout.

The extended outook for May 31 through June 6 is calling for warmer than average temperatures and normal rainfall.

Shanklin says recent rainfalls have kept Western Kentucky far away from any potential drought status that had been becoming possible earlier in the spring.
