Man arrested for strangulation, assault

A Hopkinsville man was arrested on an assault and strangulation charge Sunday on Wooldridge Road.

Hopkinsville police were called to a home in the 100 block of Wooldridge about 5:30 p.m. and investigation determined 20-year old Braiden Powers of Hopkinsville had been in an altercation with his fiancé.

An arrest citation says the victim had marks on her arm and neck and that she said she couldn’t breathe when Powers strangled her.

Powers was arrested and charged with first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
