College Basketball
The University of Connecticut has come to terms with women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma on a contract extension. The deal announced Friday is retroactive to April, 2020. According to E-S-P-N, the 67-year-old will receive a base salary of $600-thousand and additional money for consulting, speaking, and media obligations, totaling 2.2-million for the 2020-21 season. In 36 seasons at the helm of the Huskies, Auriemma has won 11 national championships and led UConn to 21 Final Fours.
NASCAR
NASCAR is preparing for its debut at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin on Sunday. The Cup Series will try its hand at the grand prix course, which is home to events for Formula One. The 3.41-mile road course features 20 turns. Alex Bowman enters the event with plenty of momentum after winning last week’s race at Dover.
