Former Louisville men’s basketball assistant coach Dino Gaudio was charged with one federal count of attempted extortion against the university yesterday. According to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, Gaudio threatened to release recruiting videos that violate NCAA rules to the media unless school officials paid him 17 months of his salary.
He also allegedly said the school violated rules by using graduate managers in practice. The complaint also states that Gaudio responded to news from Louisville head coach Chris Mack informing him and another assistant of their non-renewed contracts with threats to expose improper recruiting tactics on March 17th.
