A tractor-trailer hauling instant potatoes overturned on I-24 in Lyon County late Sunday night, causing traffic problems throughout Monday morning in the construction zone.
Sheriff Brent White says the semi was eastbound near the 46 mile-marker when a tire failed, causing the driver to lose control and go off the right side of the roadway.
The trailer broke loose and rolled onto its side, with the Transportation Cabinet saying the load of instant potatoes had to be removed by hand.
The driver, whose name isn’t included in a news release, was taken by EMS to Caldwell County Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
No construction workers were present at the time of the crash and one-lane traffic was shifted on the interstate on the eastbound side for several hours.
