Summer-like weather will move into the region this week, just in time for graduations, but the forecast is also favorable for the area avoiding any widespread rain events Friday.
During the weekly conference call with local emergency managers Monday, Rick Shanklin with the National Weather Service in Paducah noted the warmest air of the spring will move in and temperatures could approach 90 by the weekend.
Concerning outdoor graduations Friday evening at the Stadium of Champions, Shanklin says expect temperatures in the mid to upper 80’s and it will feel more humid than the last several weeks.
While there’s a slight chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm, Shanklin believes most of the area will avoid rain Friday evening.
The long-range outlook for May 24-30 shows warmer than average temperatures and about average rainfall.
The warmup comes after several weeks of below average temperatures.
