A Hopkinsville native has received a Certificate of Appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, for the class of 2025.
Denarius “Red” Barnes attended the United States Military Academy Preparatory School at West Point for the 2020-2021 academic school year.
A news release says Barnes is a 2020 graduate of Hopkinsville High School and was a participant in the Mental Mapping Mentor Program that is under the direction of the Workforce and Education Development at the Christian County Chamber of Commerce.
He is the son of Susie Barnes and Mandi and Antonio Lathon and is father to Devyn Barnes. Hewill return to New York at the end of June for bootcamp and start his attendance at West Point afterwards.
