Hopkinsville Mayor Wendell Lynch is pleased the City Council Committee of the Whole forwarded on his proposed budget for the next fiscal year with only one minor amendment last week and believes it will serve the city well as it emerges from the pandemic.
The mayor notes the $40.5 million budget fully funds the city’s pension liability and increases pay for city staff across the board.
He says the spending plan doesn’t come with any projected tax increases.
Mayor Lynch is hopeful that as COVID restrictions are being released, more people will begin to feel comfortable getting out in the community.
Hopkinsville City Council will hear first reading of the budget at its June 1 meeting.
