A benefit auction and all day event full activities is set to take place this weekend—the 11th annual Haiti Benefit Auction, sponsored by the Local Mennonite and Plain Communities.
Organizer Nate Overholt appeared on WHOP recently and says they’ve been raising money to benefit the people of Haiti for many years, and he says this year is more important than ever, in a time when things are uncertain and people need a little extra help.
He says 100 percent of proceeds raised from the auction, food sales and various other product sales, go to responsible missions working actively in Haiti.
Multiple forms of payment will be accepted, from cards to cash to checks, and numerous items are for grabs, including quilts, tools, buildings, farm equipment, lumber, toys, baked goods, furniture, hunting blinds and much more.
The event will take place at the new Ag. Expo Event Center on Pembroke Road behind the Christian County Extension Office, beginning at 4 p.m. Friday with a catfish dinner and singing, with the auction to follow.
Saturday kicks off at 6 a.m. with a buffet breakfast and the main auction begins at 8:30 a.m.—there will be an ongoing silent auction, and food will be available the bulk of the day.
