Uneventful weather expected this week, more active pattern possible next week

This week’s weather should be pretty uneventful, but a more active weather pattern next week could cause headaches for local high schools that have graduations scheduled.

Rick Shanklin with the National Weather Service in Paducah addressed the long-range weather models available for May 21 when Christian County and Hopkinsville High School are set to hold outdoor commencement at the Stadium of Champions—noting one model currently shows the potential for rain in the region—though a lot can and likely will change between now and then.

The more short-term forecast is calling for dry and mostly sunny days through Saturday.

Todd County Central High School will graduate Monday night of next week and high schools across the region have ceremonies scheduled eight to 14 days out—which Shanklin says looks to be a time of warmer and slightly wetter than average weather.

High temperatures this week will be in the 60’s before creeping into the lower 70’s this weekend.
