Christian County government and the Kentucky Division of Waste Management will combine forces to offer the always-popular waste tire collection event this weekend in Hopkinsville.
Jim Fleming is the county’s solid waste coordinator and says it’s funded with state funds and it will be Thursday through Saturday at Hopkinsville Elevator on Pembroke Road.
All traditional motor vehicle, motorcycle and bicycle tires will be accepted—but there are some larger tires that won’t be accepted.
It’s been three years since the last major tire collection event and Fleming says it’s important to get rid of any old tires sitting around, as they can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
You must be a Kentucky resident to participate in the event.
The tires will be transported out of county to a facility that will recycle them for other uses.
