HCC awards Spirit Cup, recognizes several students for achievements

Hopkinsville Community College named their Spirit Cup winner and recognized other students during the recent commencement ceremonies.

According to a news release, the 2020-2021 honoree of the Spirit Cup Award is Anthony Morin of Elkton out of approximately 400 HCC graduates. He graduated with an associate of applied science degree in industrial maintenance technology as well as certificates in Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Level II, Industrial Maintenance Electrical Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance Machinists Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Level I, Electrical Trainee Level I, Electrical Trainee Level II and Industrial Maintenance Robotics Technician.

The Spirit award is a tradition that began at Bethel College and has continued at Hopkinsville Community College since 1967. The purpose of the award is to recognize the most outstanding graduate of HCC and faculty and staff nominate students and a committee of faculty and staff chooses the recipient.

Morin was named to the 2020-21 KCTCS All-Academic Team representing technical/occupational program degree students. Earlier this month, he was also named Industrial Maintenance Technology Student of the Year.

Along with Morin, Janae Bracey of Hopkinsville was named to the All-Academic Team representing transfer associates degree students. She graduated with an associate in science degree with plans to move into the medical coding track of the medical information technology program.

During Friday afternoon’s nurse pinning ceremony Isabella Blu received the Spirit of Nightingale Award and Kelly Lusch was named Outstanding Nursing Student.
