The Pennyrile Area Development District Board of Directors heard an update on senior citizen centers in the region and the COVID-19 relief loan program during Monday’s meeting.
Senior citizen centers across the stay have been closed for a significant amount of time during the pandemic, which is a problem for those who depend on them for a multitude of service. Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living Director Jill Collins says they are waiting on guidance from the state about how to move forward on reopening the centers, and she’s hopeful to have a date at June’s meeting.
PAAD Executive Director Jason Vincent says their region is ready to reopen those centers as soon as possible, with guidelines and plans already in place.
PADD has now issued numerous loans through their COVID relief funding, with Amy Frogue saying they still have about $120,000 left that can be awarded, so she urges others to apply while they can.
Information about the loan program and how to apply can be found on the PADD social media sites or by calling 270-886-9484.
